چکیده

Recently, the problem of inconsistency handling in description logics has attracted a lot of attention. Many approaches were proposed to deal with this problem based on existing techniques for inconsistency management. In this paper, we first define two revision operators in description logics, one is called the weakening-based revision operator and the other is its refinement. The logical properties of the operators are analyzed. Based on the revision operators, we then propose an algorithm to handle inconsistency in a stratified description logic knowledge base. We show that when the weakeningbased revision operator is chosen, the resulting knowledge base of our algorithm is semantically equivalent to the knowledge base obtained by applying refined conjunctive maxi-adjustment (RCMA) which refines the disjunctive maxi-adjusment (DMA), a good strategy for inconsistency handling in classical logic.

A Stratification-based Approach for Inconsistency Handling in Description Logics

Inconsistency handling is a central problem in many knowledge representation fields, such as belief revision, belief merging. Many approaches have been proposed to handle inconsistency in ontologies. In this paper, we propose a stratification-based approach for inconsistency handling in description logics (DLs), a family of ontology languages. This approach consists of two steps. In the first s...

Typicality-based Revision for Handling Exceptions in Description Logics

We continue our investigation on how to revise a Description Logic knowledge base when detecting exceptions. Our approach relies on the methodology for debugging a Description Logic terminology, addressing the problem of diagnosing inconsistent ontologies by identifying a minimal subset of axioms responsible for an inconsistency. In the approach we propose, once the source of the inconsistency ...

Inconsistency-Tolerance in Knowledge-Based Systems by Dissimilarities

Distance-based reasoning is a well-known approach for defining non-monotonic and paraconsistent formalisms, which so far has been mainly used in the context of standard two-valued semantics. In this paper, we extend this approach to arbitrary denotational semantics by considering dissimilarities, a generalization of distances. Dissimilarity-based reasoning is then applied for handling inconsist...

Measuring Inconsistency for Description Logics Based on Paraconsistent Semantics

In this paper, we present an approach for measuring inconsistency in a knowledge base. We first define the degree of inconsistency using a four-valued semantics for the description logicALC. Then an ordering over knowledge bases is given by considering their inconsistency degrees. Our measure of inconsistency can provide important information for inconsistency handling.

Towards a Paradoxical Description Logic for the Semantic Web

As a vision for the future of the Web, the Semantic Web is an open, constantly changing and collaborative environment. Hence it is reasonable to expect that knowledge sources in the Semantic Web contain noise and inaccuracies. However, as the logical foundation of Ontology Web Language in the Semantic Web, description logics fail to tolerate inconsistent information. The study of inconsistency ...
